Title & Transport
How title and transport are handled
Fast Auto Exit is a marketing lead and match-making service. We are not a party to the title transfer or the transport arrangement. Both are handled directly between seller and buyer.
Title transfer
The seller and the buyer handle title transfer directly with each other per the seller's state DMV rules. Each state has slightly different requirements (notarization, odometer disclosure, lien releases, sales tax forms, etc.), and the seller's state is the starting point.
Common patterns:
- Seller signs the title over to the buyer with notarization where required
- Bill of sale is exchanged between the parties
- If a lien exists, the lender's payoff is wired by the buyer directly to the lender, and the lender mails the release to the buyer within 5 to 10 business days
- Buyer files the title transfer with their state DMV upon receipt of release and signed title
Outsourcing title paperwork
Some sellers and buyers prefer to outsource the paperwork to an independent title-services company. We do not provide that service, but we can recommend partners we know. Typical pricing: $300 to $700 per transaction, paid by whichever party hires the service.
Transport
Transport is the buyer's responsibility. The buyer arranges and pays for enclosed transport (or open carrier, or self-pickup, or any other method) directly with their chosen carrier.
Sellers commonly recommended carriers:
- Reliable Carriers (national)
- Intercity Lines (East Coast)
- Passport Auto Transport (West Coast)
- Plycar (international and white-glove)
Pricing depends on distance, vehicle value, transport type (enclosed vs. open), and timing. Typical enclosed transport on a domestic shipment: $1,500 to $3,500. International (export) is significantly more.
Cost to seller
Zero. Sellers do not pay transport. Sellers do not pay any title transfer fees beyond what their state DMV charges (and even that is typically the buyer's responsibility on the receiving state side). Fast Auto Exit's match-making commission is the only fee a seller pays, and it is separately invoiced via Square at closing.
