How to sell a Jaguar

The full playbook for selling a Jaguar for top dollar without dealer trade-in haircuts, auction wait times, or transaction friction.

Why sellers come to us for Jaguar

F-Type R, F-Type SVR, XKR-S, Project 7, and historic E-Type and XJ220. Owners come to us when they want certainty and speed without giving up the meaningful price spread that dealer trade-ins demand. Our offers on Jaguar cars typically come in 8 to 18 percent below current retail, which is 15 to 30 percent above what Jaguar franchise dealers offer on trade-in.

What we look for in a Jaguar

Every Jaguar we underwrite goes through the same checks:

  • VIN verification. The 17-character VIN is required at submission. We check NHTSA records, title history through NMVTIS, accident and damage history, and manufacturer service records where Jaguar provides VIN-tied data (Ferrari Classiche, Porsche Heritage, Mercedes-Benz Classic Center, Aston Martin Heritage, etc.).
  • Title status. Clean title in the seller's name (or seller listed as a registered owner). Active liens are fine and handled at closing.
  • Service records. Complete Jaguar dealership history strongly preferred. Independent specialist records also accepted.
  • Configuration documentation. Original window sticker, build sheet, factory configurator output. Bespoke commissions (factory-specified options) add value when documented.
  • Mileage and condition. Documented mileage with service records. Condition photographs at the exterior, interior, engine, and undercarriage.

The Jaguar pricing approach

We price Jaguar cars against three reference points: the current Hagerty Price Guide value for your year and condition tier, recent comparable sales from Bring a Trailer and the major auction houses (RM Sotheby's, Gooding Christie's, Mecum), and our own wholesale and retail channel observations.

From the reconciled retail number, we adjust for mileage band, condition rating, modifications, accident history, color and option desirability, and provenance. The result is a firm dollar amount with documented basis. We will share the comparables we used if you want to see them.

Title and documentation specific to Jaguar

Jaguar cars are titled the same as any other vehicle from a DMV perspective, but the secondary market expects specific documentation:

  • Original sales invoice or Monroney window sticker (modern cars)
  • Complete dealership service history (essential for warranty and resale)
  • Any manufacturer authenticity or heritage program certification
  • Original keys (typically two), key fobs, and tool kits
  • Owner's manual, navigation cards, and any factory leather portfolio

Missing documentation does not disqualify a Jaguar from acquisition, but it does reduce the resale ceiling, which reduces the offer we can extend. Bring what you have.

Common questions Jaguar owners ask

Is your service only available in your city?

We match across your state and across all 50 states. Buyer location matters less than buyer interest. Our buyer network is mostly buyers who will arrange transport from wherever the car is.

Do you tell me what to ask for my Jaguar?

We share data. You decide. Recent matched transactions in our network, current Hagerty bands, and live auction comparables are all transparent to you. You can ask whatever number you want. The buyer counters or accepts. We do not represent either party in the negotiation.

How does your commission work on a Jaguar?

Both sides pay a match-making commission to Fast Auto Exit at closing. The dollar amount and split are agreed up front in the commission disclosure. The commission is the only fee we charge. We earn it only when a transaction closes between parties we introduced.

Is Fast Auto Exit buying the car or just connecting me with buyers?

No. We facilitate introductions between sellers and qualified buyers and earn a match-making commission at closing. We do not take title, hold inventory, or handle vehicle payment funds. You and the matched buyer handle everything related to the sale directly.

Can you match a Jaguar that still has a loan on it?

Yes. Many buyers in our network are comfortable working with active liens. The mechanics: the buyer wires the lender the 10-day payoff directly at closing and wires the balance to you. The seller and buyer agree on the mechanics; we facilitate the match but are not a party to the payment.

Who handles the title transfer in your state?

your state title transfer is handled between you and the buyer. Each state has slightly different rules (notarization, odometer disclosure, lien releases). We can refer either party to an independent title-services company if you want to outsource.

Tell us about your car
The 17-character VIN is required so buyers in our network can verify the car's specs, title history, and recall status before signaling interest. Without a valid VIN we cannot match you with qualified buyers. The VIN is printed on the driver-side dashboard at the base of the windshield, on the door jamb sticker, and on your title and registration documents.
